ALUR site

ALUR Web — Website redesign and Drupal migration for modern, secure, scalable content management

We redesigned ALUR’s corporate website and rebuilt it on Drupal, solving content-structure issues and delivering a fully responsive experience ready to grow with the organization.

Context

ALUR (Alcoholes del Uruguay S.A.), part of the ANCAP Group, processes raw materials such as cereals,
oilseeds and sugarcane—as well as used cooking oil and animal fats—to produce biodiesel, bioethanol, protein meals (animal feed), electricity, glycerin and sugar, among
other outputs.

The company operates agro-industrial complexes in Montevideo, Paysandú and Artigas, with a value chain involving more than 4,000 people
directly and indirectly.

The challenge

The previous site (built in PHP in 2014) had three clear friction points:

  • A limited content structure, which made updates difficult.
  • No mobile adaptability, affecting browsing and readability on smartphones.
  • The need for a platform with stronger stability, scalability and security to support an institutional website over time.

The solution

We proposed a redesign focused on clarity, editorial order and performance, and implemented it on Drupal to professionalize content administration: a robust, modular foundation designed to evolve with new sections, updates and future needs.

What we did

Strategy & UX

  • Audit of the legacy site and key usability/content bottlenecks.
  • Reorganization of the information architecture and content hierarchy.
  • Definition of templates and components to support the site’s growth.

UI & visual system

  • Interface redesign with an institutional approach: clarity, consistency and readability.
  • Responsive design to ensure a strong experience across mobile and desktop.

Implementation (Drupal)

  • Build of the new website on Drupal CMS.
  • Content structure designed for internal updates, scalability and long-term maintainability.

Outcome

A website that works as a living institutional platform: easier to manage, clearer for users, and ready to scale with ALUR—aligned with the breadth of its agro-industrial and energy
operations.

Why Drupal?

We chose Drupal because it’s a robust, highly configurable CMS, ideal for institutional websites with multiple sections and long-term growth
requirements. Its strong focus on security, advanced roles and permissions, and the ability to model content types and publishing workflows enable more organized, sustainable content management over time. Its modular architecture also supports scalability and easier maintenance without relying on one-off custom builds for every change.
